Bringing Residents Together at the Annual Summer Barbecue in Crawley
This year’s annual summer barbecue at our Crawley site was much more than an afternoon of burgers and games. It was a moment for families to pause, connect and recharge. With 2025 bringing challenges for many households, the event offered a welcome chance for children to spend time with friends and for parents to relax before the new school and work year begins.
Around 30 residents joined us, including plenty of children who filled the day with energy and excitement. The highlight arrived at 2pm when a magician took to the stage, delivering a cheerful mix of magic, dance and bubbles that had everyone smiling. Children chased balloons and bubbles across the grass while families enjoyed puzzles, games and books inside the cabin. The afternoon closed with a relaxed raffle featuring prizes such as a Rubik’s cube, UNO and a deck of cards.
Although the day began with rain, the weather cleared just in time. Residents shared how much they appreciated seeing the children so engaged, and how valuable it felt to come together as a community.
Events like this depend on the dedication of our team and we could not be more grateful. James managed the grill and handled all the food preparation. Jack and Kobby supported throughout the day. Steve helped ensure everything ran smoothly. Each played a key part in making the event a success.
A special thank you goes to our new Community Engagement Officer, Monique Arowojolu, for organising her first event with warmth and enthusiasm. Monique captured the spirit of the day perfectly, saying that the British weather will always do its own thing so it is best not to stress and simply be prepared.
At Caridon, we believe strong communities grow from shared experiences. Our summer barbecue was a lovely reminder of the joy that comes from bringing people together, and we look forward to creating more opportunities for our residents to connect in the months ahead.
