Growing Together: How the Grow For Change Project is Blossoming at Imperial Apartments, Bristol
What began as a few humble seeds has flourished into something truly special. At Imperial Apartments, we are delighted to support Change Ahead’s Grow For Change project, a community-driven initiative helping residents reconnect with nature, develop new skills, and find joy through food-growing workshops.
Thanks to generous funding from the Bupa Foundation UK and invaluable support from Reap London and Groundwork, this grassroots project is already making a quiet but powerful impact. Together, we have installed five raised garden beds where residents are cultivating a variety of herbs and vegetables including tomatoes, spinach, and rosemary.
Weekly workshops, led by passionate volunteers, have encouraged residents to roll up their sleeves and get hands-on with gardening. A core group of engaged participants now regularly attends these sessions, fostering a real sense of community and shared purpose.
The benefits extend beyond the garden itself. We’re seeing improvements in mental wellbeing, increased food literacy, and stronger community bonds, all nurtured by the simple act of growing together. The green spaces are not only transforming visually but also becoming places where neighbours meet, learn, and support one another.
A special thank you toTessa Chan for beautifully capturing the project in action, and to all the sponsors and volunteers whose dedication makes this possible. We’re excited to watch the garden bloom fully this summer and we’re far from finished. The Grow For Change project at Imperial Apartments shows how small beginnings can grow into meaningful change for everyone involved.
